Hsu, Kerman, and Muzik Receive NARSAD Awards

David T. Hsu, Ph.D, Ilan A. Kerman, M.D., Ph.D, and Maria Muzik, M.D., were announced today as 2010 NARSAD Young Investigator grantees.

NARSAD's list of awardees includes researchers from institutions across six continents. The organization's Young Investigator program supports researchers with the potential to find breakthroughs in the field of mental health through innovative brain and behavior research.

The program is also intended to help young researchers establish a basis for leveraging future funding for their work.

Hsu, Kerman, and Muzik are part of a group of awardees chosen from more than 1,000 applicants. Hsu is a research assistant professor of psychiatry, Kerman is a research investigator at MBNI, and Muzik is an assistant professor of psychiatry. All three investigators are members of the U-M Depression Center.

NARSAD grants support research in depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and anxiety disorders such as obsessive-compulsive and post-traumatic stress disorders.
