Sleep as a Vital Sign: Building a Data-Driven Approach to Injury Prevention in Student-Athletes

In this DIGIT-MI session, Dr. Abigail Bretzin will examine her team's approach to assessing the relationship between habitual sleep patterns and injury risk in student-athletes, highlighting how sleep data can be integrated into sports medicine to better understand and potentially mitigate injury risk. The presentation will also explore a stakeholder-engaged approach that brings together sports medicine physicians, athletic trainers, and student-athletes to interpret and apply sleep data, with a proposed feedback loop that moves from research-based sleep monitoring to providing user results to support athlete health and injury prevention.
