Yolanda Smith, M.D., M.S.

Yolanda R. Smith, M.D., M.S. is a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and faculty of the Reproductive Sciences Program. Dr. Smith received her bachelor’s degree from Duke University and her medical degree from Wake Forest University. Following residency training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and University of Michigan in obstetrics and gynecology, she completed fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Johns Hopkins University. She joined the University of Michigan faculty in 1995 and completed additional training in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis. Dr. Smith serves as research director for the NICHD sponsored University of Michigan Women’s Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) Career Development Program, designed to increase the research capacity of clinically trained ob/gyn’s. Her research interests focus on the field of neuroendocrinology, specifically studying the effects of ovarian aging and impaired glucose metabolism on women’s health. Dr. Smith works with several national and international organizations to advance women’s health. She is a co-investigator with the Center for International Reproductive Health Training. Dr. Smith also serves on the Board of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, the Council of the Society for Reproductive Investigation and on the American Society for Reproductive Medicine Research Committee.
