Stanley Watson, M.D., Ph.D., is a nationally recognized neuroscientist whose research focuses on the molecular and circuit-level mechanisms underlying psychiatric disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, and addiction. He integrates human postmortem studies, animal models, and cutting-edge molecular tools to understand how stress and gene regulation impact brain function.
As co-director of the Pritzker Neuropsychiatric Disorders Research Consortium, Dr. Watson leads collaborative, translational efforts to identify biomarkers and treatment targets. His leadership at the Michigan Neuroscience Institute has advanced interdisciplinary research at the intersection of neuroscience, psychiatry, and molecular biology.
He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine and has received numerous honors for his contributions to mental health research.
