Find a Study

Participating in research is one of the most powerful ways to make a difference in improving mental health care, and there are many ways to get involved. At the University of Michigan, thousands of people take part in research studies each year, and each person’s participation matters!  Here are some ways to get involved in mental health research at U-M and elsewhere:

  • Call the Department of Psychiatry and Depression Center’s Mental Health Research Line at (734) 232-0255, or email Psych-Recruitment@med.umich.edu. Staff are available to match you to appropriate studies and answer your questions about research.
  • Visit UMClinicalStudies.org, the database of health research at U-M. Search studies by condition, enroll as a volunteer, and find out more about clinical research.
  • ClinicalTrials.gov is a registry and results database of federally and privately supported clinical trials conducted in the U.S. and around the world. ClinicalTrials.gov provides information about a trial's purpose, who may participate, locations, and contact information.
  • WeSearchTogether.org, a collaboration between the Depression Center and the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA), is a nationwide clearinghouse connecting people living with mental health conditions to opportunities to participate in studies that are seeking volunteers. It also gives potential participants a say in the priorities, direction, and evaluation of mental health research.
