The Rachel Upjohn Building
The
Rachel Upjohn Building is a truly unique place. It was designed to serve
a specific purpose: to house the U-M Depression Center and Ambulatory Psychiatry,
bringing together in one place the people and resources to provide multidisciplinary
care for patients and their families, and to foster groundbreaking research
into the causes, treatment and prevention of mental illness.
Our spacious atrium welcomes visitors and houses the FRIENDS Depression Education Resource Center, which is centrally located on the first floor near the patient care areas. The second floor of the building is primarily devoted to research and emerging treatment programs.
The building was named for Rachel Mary Upjohn Meader in recognition of a generous gift by the Meader family that made construction of the facility possible.
