Growing through Grief Workshops
A Parenting Workshop to Help Children Cope with the Loss of a Loved One
Caregivers who are grieving often struggle to assist their children during such a difficult life transition. This educational workshop is designed for bereaved parents/caregivers who have a child under the age of 18 who is also grieving. Topics covered during the workshop include:
- How can caregivers recognize “normal” versus “maladaptive” grief reactions in their children?
- How can caregivers become more aware of their own grief reactions and how these reactions may either help or hinder children’s abilities to grieve in adaptive ways?
- What are some concrete strategies for helping caregivers to facilitate children’s adaptive grief?
Co-led by two licensed clinicians, workshops will use psychoeducation, assessment materials, demonstration of grief facilitation techniques, and group discussion to enhance caregivers’ understanding of their children’s grief processes and how to help them “grow through their grief”.
Workshops are offered on the second Thursday of every month from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Christian Love Fellowship Ministries, 1601 Stamford Rd., Ypsilanti, MI 48198.
