Nominate a Student for the Student Mental Health Advocate Award
To recognize outstanding student leadership in the area of campus mental health, the University of Michigan has created the Student Mental Health Advocate Award. You may nominate a college student (undergraduate or graduate) to receive this award, which will be presented at the 2012 Depression on College Campuses Conference. Click here to read about last year's award recipients.
In 300 words or less, please give the student's name, major, college/university, and describe how this student has helped to create a healthier campus community by:
- Raising awareness of mental health issues on campus through education and outreach, and/or
- Advocating for outreach programs and mental health services on campus which help to identify students at risk, promote resilience, and encourage help-seeking if needed, and/or
- Helping to reduce the stigma of depressive illnesses.
The U-M Depression on College Campuses Conference Planning Committee will review the nominations and select a recipient. The Committee will pay travel expenses for the recipient to attend the conference, and present the award during the banquet lunch on Thursday, March 8, 2012.
In addition, the person who nominates the selected student will receive free registration and hotel accommodations for the conference.
Deadline for nominations is January 27, 2012. The award recipient will be notified by February 10, 2012.
