Content
This conference presents a focused review of recent research and practical advances in our understanding of depressive illnesses in young adults. A Conference Committee, co-chaired by Dr. John F. Greden, Dr. Todd Sevig, and Dr. Daniel Eisenberg, and including members from across the University of Michigan campus, was instrumental in determining the specific session topics and identifying appropriate speakers.
Learning objectives
Depression among college students is an urgent public health problem. If we are to prevent the progression, chronicity, recurrence, and burden of depression, we must emphasize earlier detection, intervention, and ultimately, prevention.
Participants in this Depression on College Campuses Conference will gain an improved understanding of best practices for risk assessment, prevention, and intervention methods to address depressive illnesses among college students; and knowledge of strategies to address inadequate mental health services and resources on college campuses.
Audience
The conference is targeted to psychologists, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, counselors, university leaders, administrators, faculty, resident advisors and other students, educational specialists, and parents.
