Our Members
At the core of the Depression Center are our members: researchers and clinicians from throughout the university who contribute to our knowledge literally every day. The Center’s members come from 21 different disciplines, including psychiatry, psychology, neurology, nursing, obstetrics, and even art—leading to unprecedented opportunities to work and learn together. Innovative research projects are constantly underway.
The ground-breaking work of the Depression Center is so important that the U-M Regents think it deserves its own facility: a new building full of light and hope. The Rachel Upjohn Building includes:
- Brain imaging facilities
- Sleep and chronophysiology labs
- Stress and neuroendocrine programs
- A lending library for patients and families
- 150 rooms for patient consultations
- Two telemedicine rooms
- A research area for the study of substance use disorders
- An auditorium and conference rooms for educational functions and community events
Almost 40% of the cost of the building was provided by the generous support of donors—people whose lives have been touched by the effects of depression and bipolar disorder.
