How does it benefit me to repeatedly measure my depression level?

In the MDOCC program patients take the depression questionnaire, which measures depression severity by scoring the frequency of depression symptoms.  Monitoring these scores over time benefits both the patient and the clinician by showing whether or not depression symptoms are improving or worsening.  The depression questionnaire is an objective way for clinician’s to measure depression levels, similar to obtaining sugar levels for someone who is diabetic or having your blood pressure checked when you visit your doctor.   Using measurement based care enables patients and clinicians to gain a very valuable perspective on how they are responding to treatment.
